    Description

    RARE - This
    100-page Coal Miner's Journal
    has 65 pages filled out.
    Of those,
57 pages are from Aldred Sanderson documenting the number of hours he worked for {{detail_product_description}}.20 to {{detail_product_description}}.24 an hour, what he spent on a boarding house and how much he spent at the mine’s commissary detailing what he bought and what it cost, how many meals a day he ate per day and some bank account balances.
Aldred worked for the Pine River Lumber Company, Walter Branson, and the Montezuma Lumber Company.
He typically bought a lot of gloves, coil oil, tobacco, and matches from the commissary but all he bought is listed – Fascinating.
    Then there are
8 pages of entries from Aldred's year older brother, Rudolph Sanderson, when he worked for the Colorado Lime & Coal Company.
The brothers worked 7 days a week most weeks and most entries are for 10 hours a day, 3 meals a day.
The most Aldred made was {{detail_product_description}}.24 an hour while matches cost him {{detail_product_description}}.10, gloves .50, coil oil {{detail_product_description}}.50, tobacco {{detail_product_description}}.10, etc.
From other sample writings from Rudolph and Aldred Sanderson document they were 9 and 8 years old in 1899 and originally lived in Cleburne, KS (another handwriting eBay listing from this estate) so I would imagine this personal journal is from the early 1900’s (1905).
    GREAT PIECE OF AMERICAN HISTORY!
