Description
1950 Archibald "Moonlight" Graham Signed Postcard. The name Archibald "Moonlight" Graham may not conjure up memories of a Hall of Fame career, but his place in baseball history is secure. Moonlight appeared in only one Major League game but never quite got to settle into the batter's box. Rather, he was a late inning substitution who did get to play in the outfield but was left at the on-deck circle when the game reached its conclusion.Graham first gained a little notoriety in 1982 when he was incorporated into a character in the novel Shoeless Joe. Later, when Field of Dreams hit the silver screen, Graham became part of baseball lore. His journey is discussed in the must-see baseball classic. In the collecting world, signatures of Graham are all but impossible. He died in 1965 and wasn't recognized for realizing his Major League dream until the 1989 film. To date, there are only a handful of signatures from Graham. This listing includes one signed standard sized postcard. This was sent from New York to Graham's hometown of Chisholm, Minnesota. The recipient is listed as "Blondie" and "Miss Blondie Tilla." Signature is 8/10 in quality. The postcard has some paper loss and a fold - away from the signature. Please read the COA to see the full information. The handwriting and “A.W” was written by graham, the “Dr. Graham” is unknown handwriting.
Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
There are only 5 Moonlight Graham signatures certified by PSA, much rarer than the stars like Ruth and Cobb.
