    Description

1 pg. letter, approx. 6" x 9", dated at New York City, Feb. 2, 1938, from Gerald G. Newell, Jr., to his wife back home in Spencer, Mass. Written on Hotel New Yorker illustrated stationery.
    Includes the original envelope.
Good content writing of shows and places he has seen in NYC, and of his desire to see "Snow White" - a scarce early reference to this Disney animated film which premiered in California on Dec. 21, 1937, and had a special East coast premier in NYC at Radio City Music Hall on Jan. 13, 1938. The general release of the film wasn't until Feb. 4, 1938, 2 days after this letter was written.
    Includes:
    "Dear Carolyn:
Another day. I didn't do much today. Saw a play, 'Golden Boy' last night.
I went to the Art Museum and visited two picture stores this morning....
I am planning to do a little shopping tomorrow morning. I would like to see 'Snow White', and the Planetarium if I get a chance.
    Lovingly,
    Gerald"
The letter is Very Fine. The envelope has a crease at the bottom right corner.
